namesake Submission Guidelines
namesake is a publication of Aviv Publishing and is published on a quarterly basis. Our magazine is a compilation of creative and authentic reflections, featuring writers and artists with a common passion for Christ and His enduring truth.
Our desire is to showcase pictures of redemption through literary and visual arts. We seek to guide and enrich our readers by offering resources within and outside our pages.
Our Voice
Our primary audience is individuals with a basic knowledge of Christianity. That considered, discipleship rather than evangelism is our core purpose. Our goal is to provide a positive tone with substance rather than an atmosphere of protest. In a world of valid injustices, we will focus on redemption and reclaiming beauty from ashes. We want our readers to be spiritually fed and to experience rest when looking through our pages.
Submissions
We accept pieces for the following main feature sections:
Journal - theological and philosophical concepts expressed through essay, short stories, testimonies, fiction, poetry, interviews and other creative writing pieces
Canvas - tangible illustrations using photography, sketches, painting and digital art
Other Thoughts for Freelancers
We ask that each person desiring to submit to our magazine carefully look over our Web site (avivpublishing.org) along with our core values to get the full scope of new pilgrim press and to see how namesake fits with our overall mission and vision.
In addition, please include a brief summary (1-3 sentences) with your submission, providing us with any special insight to your piece. (e.g. inspiration for my painting comes from dealing with my mother's death) We may or may not print this information with the feature.

For artwork, if you'd like to send originals, send at your own risk with a self-addressed stamped envelope if you'd like it returned.
Also, be sure to note that our organization does not pay freelancers at this time. Because of this, we recognize that you own your article and that you can publish it anywhere in the future. We simply ask you respectfully to mention that it first appeared in namesake.
